Guanyin Hung Hom (紅衫觀音) also known as the Red-Robed Guanyin, is one of Guanyin’s reincarnation, particularly famous and widely respected in Hong Kong and Southern China. The name "Hung Hom" (紅衫) translates to "Red Robe", a color symbolizing the power of an empress, good fortune, protection, and strength unlike the more commonly seen white-robed image of Guanyin.

According to legend, in the year 1909, during the construction of a road from Tsim Sha Tsui to Hung Hom, workers discovered red-colored water flowing from underground while drilling into the road. Believing this to be “dragon’s blood,” the local community came together, donating funds to restore the area and prayed to Guanyin for protection against harm and misfortune.

Another legend goes back to World War II, when the village was targeted by Japanese air raids aiming to destroy Whampoa Dock. While the surrounding areas suffered heavy damage, this sacred site remained completely unharmed. The locals firmly believed that a divine presence was protecting the place.

Guanyin Hung Hom, or the goddess of mercy, helps make the wishes of all who seek her guidance come true, especially those related to wealth. She grants the desires for prosperity and wealth to those who earnestly pray to her. In times of hardship, Guanyin is believed to soothe suffering in all matters for her devoted followers, offering comfort to those in need.

The dragon tortoise was highly respected by the Tang Dynasty, with its statue in front of the palace as a symbol of strength, longevity, good health, determination, and perseverance. It was believed to lead to progress, success, and stability, as well as bring about wealth and protect from evil influences.

9. The base rests upon a lotus flower that is blooming, symbolizing happiness and purity. It represents a lotus rising above the water, having freed itself from all suffering, embodying liberation and enlightenment.
